Shrinkage pattern assessment for black pine juvenile wood delimitation

چکیده

Juvenile wood is associated with shrinkage and a high probability of warping checks in end products, reducing their value even causing them to be rejected for structural purposes. This work studies the variations yearly caused when passes from green dry state. The methodology proposed based on juvenile (JW) location using annual variations. Pinus nigra Arn. grown different silviculture techniques was chosen study because its characterized by severe problems. characteristic analyzed radial angular directions, which latter evaluating problem rather than commonly used ratio anisotropy. It takes into account measurements obtained disc cut tree trunk at various heights. results were compared segregated JW mature (MW) area densitometry pattern variation methodology. show that higher near pith but stabilizes earlier (3–7 rings) (9–11 rings). Nevertheless, opposite initial occurs shrinkage, low increases annually towards bark until it stabilizes. No clear effect height comparing patterns along bole can defined. Silviculture practices have no significant influence percentage. Shrinkage methodologies differences quantification volume percentage between MW estimation. Results methodology, problems, classifies as good quality uses comparison use On other hand, if classified variation, problems should not sawn.

Thermomechanical Pulping of Loblolly Pine Juvenile Wood

Intensive forest management, with a heavy emphasis on ecosystem management and restoring or maintaining forest health, will result in the removal of smaller diameter materials from the forest. This increases the probability of higher juvenile wood content in the harvested materials. The purpose of this study was to compare the performance of loblolly pine juvenile and mature wood unbleached the...

Effects of cell wall ultrastructure on the transverse shrinkage anisotropy of Scots pine wood

A hypothesis for explaining the differential anisotropic shrinkage behavior of wood has been proposed, and it was based on the differences in the cell wall ultrastructure. The starting point of the consideration is that wood shrinkage is governed by its chemical composition, ultrastructure, and gross anatomy. It is also well known that the transverse shrinkage anisotropy of earlywood (EW) is mo...

Fungi Isolated from Pine Wood Nematode, Its Vector Japanese Pine Sawyer, and the Nematode-Infected Japanese Black Pine Wood in Korea

Pine tree death caused by pine wood nematode (PWN) involves phoretic relationships between PWN and its vector Japanese pine sawyer beetle (JPS). In an effort to understand the diversity of fungi involved in PWN life cycle, a total of 176 fungal isolates were collected from PWNs, adults and larvae of JPS, PWN-diseased Japanese black pine that was cut down in 2005 at Jinju, Korea. Based on micros...

Screening Corewood of Pine for Wood Properties

Conventional breeding requires long breeding cycles which limits selection intensity due to large tree sizes and high costs associated with assessing properties. In contrast very early selection offers a short cycle and assesses corewood which is the poorest wood in the tree. Young Pinus radiata trees were deliberately leant to produce separately opposite wood (OW) and compression wood (CW). Th...
